Summit Bonus Index (FIA) - Updated Caps Effective 1/15/2016
 

New Business

The Point to Point, Monthly Average, Daily Average and Monthly Sum caps will be adjusted effective 1/15/2016. Please download the Annuity Rate Sheet for updated percentages.

Existing Business

The Point to Point, Monthly Average, Daily Average and Monthly Sum caps will be adjusted on the anniversary of all inforce Summit Bonus Index annuities effective 1/15/2016. All new caps will be guaranteed for the next policy year and will vary depending on the issue date of the annuity as well as the fixed interest. The table below provides what the new renewal caps will be in detail.

New Vantage Life Telephone Interviews

Telephone interviews are required for all New Vantage plans on all proposed insureds ages 16 and older. Sentinel Security Life uses Apptical for all of our telephone interviews.  Please add their number to your contact list, 1-800-737-6972. This needs to replace any other contact number for telephone interviews you have for Sentinel. We no longer accept telephone interviews from EMSI.

Apptical's hours of operation are:

 

Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. EST

Saturday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. EST

 

National Blood Donor Month

This January, the American Red Cross celebrates National Blood Donor Month and recognizes the lifesaving contribution of blood and platelet donors. As we begin the New Year, the Red Cross encourages individuals to resolve to roll up a sleeve and donate blood this month and throughout 2016.

 

National Blood Donor Month has been observed in January since 1970 with the goal of increasing blood and platelet donations during winter - one of the most difficult times of year to collect enough blood products to meet patient needs. During the winter months, inclement weather often results in cancelled blood drives and seasonal illnesses like the flu may cause some donors to become temporarily unable to donate.

 

Donating blood is a simple thing to do but can make a big difference in the lives of others. One pint of blood can save up to THREE lives. You can find a blood drive near you by going to http://www.redcross.org/blood.

 

iGo Electronic Application - Quick Tip

When using Google Chrome to complete an e-application, make sure your page zoom is at the default setting (100%). If this is not done, the application will error out when you reach the signature page.

Improving Medicare Supplement Application Time Service

It is important to fully complete each application you submit on behalf of your clients. This includes Section 6, Health Questions, as well as the prescription medication fields that follow (including dosages, duration and the condition the medication was prescribed for). This section is your way to communicate with the underwriter concerning the stability of your client's health history. If any part of the health history is incomplete, our underwriter will reach out to you to have it completed or may choose to require a telephone interview from your client. Both these options add additional days to the processing of your client's application. Stability is described in our Medicare Supplement Underwriting Guide as:
 

A condition is considered to be controlled if there have been no changes in treatment or medications for at least two years. If this situation exists and you would like consideration to be given to the application, answer the appropriate question "Yes," and attach an explanation stating how long the condition has existed and how it is being controlled. Be sure to include the names and dosages, duration and conditions treated for ALL prescription medications.

Medicare Supplement - New Deductibles in All States

Sentinel Security Life will have new deductibles in all states effective 1/1/2016. Updated Brochures and Outlines of Coverage available to order and download through our Document Portal. Please discard any marketing materials you may currently have that display the previous deductibles.

 

AGENT PORTAL

Household Discount for Medicare Supplement Plan G now available in Louisiana

Effective 1/1/2016 in the state of Louisiana, if your client is applying for Medicare Supplement Plan G s/he may be eligible for a Household Premium Discount. The discount is available if s/he currently has a household resident (at least one, no more than 3) who is age 50 or older and also:

 

  • has continuously resided with for the past 12 months or to who s/he is either married or to whom s/he is in a civil union partnership; or
  • has an existing Medicare Supplement policy, or is applying for a policy with Sentinel Security Life Insurance Company.
